The Design of a 17.35 GHz LNA and Mixer

چکیده
The performance of radio-frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) blocks such as low noise amplifiers (LNA) or mixers is enhanced by achieving a simultaneous noise and power match at the input. This paper presents a design strategy for achieving this match for circuits built from bipolar transistors with inductive degeneration. The strategy is applied to the design of a 17.35 GHz LNA and a 17.35 GHz direct down-conversion mixer. Simulated results with extracted parasitics show a simultaneous noise and power match for both the LNA and mixer. The results for these two components are compared with those previously published by other authors.

Design and Fabrication of a 911 GHz Balanced Low Noise Amplifier Using HJFET
This paper describes the design of an X-band balanced low noise amplifier (LNA) using an available HJFET device. The balanced LNA consists of a pair of electrically similar transistors whose input and output signals are divided or combined by 3 dB two-stage Wilkinson power dividers. The proposed balanced LNA is fabricated and measured. The measured results show that the noise figure is 1.30 dB ...

A new approach for designing an ultra wideband (UWB) CMOS low noise amplifier (LNA) is presented. The aim of this design is to achieve a low noise figure, reasonable power gain and low power consumption in 3.1-10.6 GHz. Also, the figure of merit (FOM) is significantly improved at 180nm technology compared to the other state-of-the-art designs. Improved π-network and T-network are used to obt...
متن کاملAn Rf-cmos Lna and Mixer Merged Design Strategy
Low Noise Amplifier and Mixer design considerations for 2.45 GHz Bluetooth applications have been studied. A detailed noise analysis is presented. A design strategy for an inductively degenerated common-source LNA with cascode transistor and current-commutating Mixer is proposed, considering the tradeoffs between noise, linearity, power consumption and matching of impedances. Additionally, this...

Demand for low cost and high data-rate wireless communication systems is increasing. Since the FCC has authorized communication in the 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz frequency band, several technologies have been developed to satisfy the communication market. Typically, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique appears to be good candidate for high speed data communication whereas carrie...
